Community Service
The African Students Association prides itself on community service as a medium to reach the Tuscaloosa community for the sole purpose of giving back. Collaborating with the Center for Service and Leadership at the University of Alabama, the association has embarked on a series of service events like Hands on Tuscaloosa, Embrace Tuscaloosa, and MLK Day of service.
The association’s 2022 annual helping event involved a rewarding partnership with Tuscaloosa Angels with a provision of Christmas baskets for foster families.
Therefore, as a team, it is our mantra to help and support others because, in community service, the gift is in giving.
Welfare
The welfare committee of ASA see to the care of both new and old members of the association. We provide pre-departure orientation, airport pickup, and welcome orientation for incoming African students, to ensure our new members are well settled in Tuscaloosa and ready for study at the University of Alabama. Also, we ensure our members get all the support they would need throughout their stay at the University of Alabama.

Members Achievement
At ASA, we celebrate every achievement because we know the hard work, dedication and resilience required to accomplish these feats as internationals. These accomplishments could be in sports, scholarships, fellowships, conference presentations, publications, thesis or dissertation defense, graduation, job offer, etc. We are here to cheer you every step of the way!
