The African Students Association (ASA) at The University of Alabama held its annual Summer Party on Friday, July 4th, 2025, at the Red Point Club House.

Designed as a casual gathering ahead of the busy academic year, the Summer Party provided members with a space to unwind, meet each other, and re-establish the unique spirit that unites us across backgrounds and countries.

The event featured games, food, drinks, Afrobeat songs, and plenty of opportunities to socialize and meet other members of the ASA family.

ASA President Olabayo Joshua Awodirepo noted during his welcome address that the purpose of the Summer Party was more than just fun: “This is about reminding each other that wherever we are from, this community is home. ASA isn’t just a student group; it’s a family, and we are making sure every member of the family feels included.”

The success of the event was due to the incredible work of the ASA’s executive board and the undeniable support of members who donated to the event and volunteers who helped set up, serve, and clean up.

As the evening ended, it was clear that the Summer Party had done more than entertain; it had rekindled the spirit of togetherness that defines ASA.

With this event behind us, ASA is energized for the rest of the academic year. If the Summer Party is any indication, 2025–2026 is going to be a year of member-centered leadership and collective achievement.
