The African Students Association (ASA) at the University of Alabama kicked off the new academic year with a vibrant and successful Freshers’ and Welcome Night on Friday, August 29, 2025.
The event drew more than 120 students, marking one of ASA’s most engaging General Body Meetings to date. Designed to both celebrate new members and strengthen the bonds within the community, the evening provided a networking opportunity, shared ASA’s plans for the Fall 2025 and Spring 2026 semesters, and officially inaugurated ASA’s standing committees.

New students were warmly welcomed into the ASA family, while returning members reconnected with one another, embodying the spirit of solidarity and togetherness. Beyond the formalities, the night was filled with an atmosphere of joy and a sense of belonging.

The event also served as a launchpad for the year ahead, with ASA unveiling highlights of its upcoming calendar, which includes cultural showcases, sports events, leadership development opportunities, and the highly anticipated Taste of Africa in Fall 2025 and Africa Ball in Spring 2026.

The African Students Association remains committed to promoting African culture, creating supportive spaces for students, and building connections across the University of Alabama campus.
